Work experience

Since 2011, Dr. Nikolai A. Behr has been the founder and managing partner of DIKT GmbH – German Institute for Communication and Media Training®, as well as brain script® Corporate Image Films and brain script® Publishing (https://www.dikt.consulting).

Before founding DIKT, he worked in many different media and management roles. In addition, he was founder and managing director of brain script® GmbH from 2007 to 2020. At the same time, he was Professor of Media Management at macromedia University of Applied Sciences for Media and Communication from 2010 to 2012.

In 2002, he founded the brain script publishing house. Furthermore, he headed the international Corporate TV program “Network TV” for internal communication at BMW Group from 2001 to 2007.

Earlier in his career, he was Head of Marketing at TV-Berlin / Kirch Group from 1999 to 2000. Before that, he worked as Head of Program Marketing at Bayerischer Rundfunk Fernsehen / ARD from 1994 to 1999.

From 1991 to 1994, he worked as a television journalist at Bavarian Television / ARD. In 1990, he was a news editor at tv.weiss-blau. Before that, he worked as a reporter for Radio Charivari from 1988 to 1989. Finally, from 1987 to 1988, he served in the German Armed Forces at the Army Pioneer School as a cameraman.

Academic career

Dr. Behr has also built a broad academic background. From 2014 to 2015, he completed the CPEA – Certified Private Equity Analyst program at TUM School of Management (TU Munich / BVK).

In addition, he completed an Executive MBA with honors at TUM School of Management from 2005 to 2006. The program was conducted in cooperation with Columbia University, New York, and the University of Southern California, Los Angeles.

Before that, he completed his doctorate in Environmental Policy at the FU Berlin from 1998 to 2001 and received the degree Dr. rer. pol. Subsequently, he studied political science at Ludwig-Maximilians University in Munich from 1990 to 1993 and graduated as Dipl. sc. pol.

More than 40 years of media and communication experience

Nikolai A. Behr has been working in media and communications for over 40 years. He started his career as a dubbing and radio play narrator, including the voice of “Karl Vierstein” on TKKG.

Later, he worked as a TV journalist, marketing manager, and project manager. In addition, he has been involved in training and education since 1990. As a result, his career combines practical media work with teaching and knowledge transfer.

In the early years, his trainings and seminars mainly attracted trainee journalists, young reporters, editors, and presenters. However, his work has increasingly focused on executives and communications managers over the last two decades.

Today, his clients come from sports, culture, politics, and business. Therefore, his experience covers communication in many different professional situations and environments.

Communication training and media work

Besides his communication training at https://www.medientraining-institut.de/, Dr. Behr continues to work as a TV and VR producer at https://www.brainscript.de/.

In addition, he supports start-ups and young entrepreneurs as an adviser and business angel. He also works as a panelist, freelance journalist, and keynote speaker.

Because his professional experience covers media, management, communication, and education, he brings together different perspectives in his work. At the same time, he remains active outside his professional roles as a mountaineer, motorist, family man, and father.

Films (selection)

From 1991 to 2001, Dr. Behr produced numerous TV magazine contributions for ARD, Bayerisches Fernsehen, and Kirch Group. In 1998, he worked on “On Fragile Ground” for Kiro 7 / CBS as a co-author of the documentary.

From 2001 to 2007, he directed and produced more than 750 films for BMW Group. In 2016, he directed and produced “Being an Astronaut for 22 Seconds”, a VR experience for ARTE G.E.I.E. In addition, he directed and produced “Overcoming Gravity: Science in Weightlessness”, a documentary for ARTE G.E.I.E.

Finally, from 2007 to 2018, he directed and produced numerous international award-winning image films.
