The benefits of continuous learning

Keynote: Lifelong learning – Why education is the key to the future

Technological progress, societal transformations, and global crises are rapidly changing our world. The ability to learn is therefore no longer just a nice-to-have—it is essential to our survival. Lifelong learning is becoming a fundamental skill for meeting challenges and seizing opportunities. In this inspiring keynote, Nikolai A. explains why education extends far beyond school or college and how we can shape a better future through curiosity, a thirst for knowledge, and a culture of learning.

Education as the answer to the pressing questions of our time

Whether climate change, migration, social inequality, or digital disruption—almost every global problem has one thing in common: it can only be tackled with knowledge, dialogue, and continuous development. Education is the key lever for individual self-efficacy and collective change.

From information overload to knowledge quality

In the age of Google, AI, and constant access to data, the problem is not access to information, but rather orientation within it. What is missing is the human factor: someone who filters, classifies, and inspires. Lifelong learning requires people, not just machines. Mentors, teachers, coaches, and colleagues play a central role in developing potential.

Why learning has more to do with emotion than facts

Scientific studies show that learning works best when emotions are involved. Curiosity, enthusiasm, and self-efficacy not only increase learning success—they make it possible in the first place. That’s why we need motivated teachers, learning spaces with freedom, and a culture that sees mistakes as learning opportunities.

Learning begins with listening and never ends

In his keynote speech, Nikolai A. recounts touching and humorous stories from his journalistic career, his work as a media trainer, and his own educational journey. From trying to play the flute as a child to his late career as a pianist, from his first seminar at the age of 20 to VR production in zero gravity—each example shows that learning is a process that requires courage, perseverance, and inspiration.

Knowledge sharing instead of knowledge hoarding

Whether through everyday interactions, at work, or through social projects, everyone can be both a teacher and a student. Nikolai A. advocates for a new learning culture in which knowledge is shared, skills are passed on, and experiences are exchanged—across generations and openly. Lifelong learning also means learning from others and learning for others.

Conclusion: Learning changes lives – and our world

This keynote speech motivates, inspires, and makes it clear: it’s never too late to learn something new—be it an instrument, a language, or a new professional role. Learning is the engine of change—on both a small and large scale. And those who are willing to remain open and curious will always have a future.
